Project Description

The playing card playmats I designed for my store, Out There Posters & Playmats. In competitive one on one card games like Magic The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh, it is common for players to play with a playmat to protect their cards and show off. I designed these as a Magic The Gathering player who was frustrated by the lack of diverse options in playmat art.

My first two playmats listed in this portfolio are vaporwave styled basic land cards from Magic the Gathering. The first being an island and the second being a forest. I am still working on the mountain, plains and swamp landscapes.

The next 3 playmats (Nicol Bolas, Eidolon of the Great Revel, & Kozilek Butcher of Truth) are all creature cards from Magic The Gathering. There is a way of playing Magic that involves building decks around specific creatures, and I wanted to give those players a way to show off their favorite cards on their playmats too.
